Here's to Harryhausen

Hey everyone!

It’s not often I write about less positive subjects, but I was saddened to hear about the passing of Ray Harryhausen -a true creative great.

I’m sure many of the designers we have on MySoti will testify to some influence from the great man’s work… even if it did mean hiding behind the sofa with crayons in hand!

So, in true MySoti style, I’d like to celebrate his life and his work and hope that we’ll see some minotaurs, skeletons or giant scorpions coming to a t-shirt, canvas or lampshade (and something else that can’t yet be named) soon!

New products on the way! Yes, really!

Hey everyone!

So this has been underway for some time, but I told you we’d have something new to share very soon. I won’t spoil it by saying what it is just yet, but within the next couple of weeks, we will have another range of great products which I know you’ll love. We try to find unique things for you to personalise and make your own, so inevitably these take time as our highly-trained team of technical gurus will agree while they’ve been toiling to get them brought in to our site.

Meanwhile, if you have any ideas for any products you’d like to see on the site, don’t keep it to yourself! Tell us now!

The power of community

Hey everyone!

We generally don’t like to single people out for “promotion” as it sets a precedent that we wouldn’t normally be that desirable. On this occasion, we received a message on Facebook a few days ago from someone who had entered a competition and narrowly lost out because he didn’t get enough votes. It got me thinking. Just how powerful is the MySoti community ? I have great faith in y’all, but I’ve not tried to test it. Now may be the time.

Mission to Mars. Again.

Hey everyone!

They’re saying that there’s another plan to colonise Mars. I can’t say that appeals to me a heck of a lot! Maybe it’s the weather, or maybe it’s the idea of coffee that gets recycled every day. What would Starbucks say!

That doesn’t seem to curb your appetite for all things spacey (no, not you, Kevin!) as some of our newer designs have proved. There’s a bit more Dr Who action there, thanks to MySoti stalwart, Stuart Witts. If you want something more abstract, we’ve got that covered too!

It's all about the feedback

Hey everyone!

We get a lot of messages from you guys and gals each week. Some good, some not so good. That’s life. We do appreciate all of it, though. Sure, it’s disappointing when people aren’t happy, but we aim to learnfrom those experiences and improve. Long time, loyal MySotians will I’m sure testify to how we have improved.

Likewise, nothing warms my heart more than getting delighted feedback from happy customers. That’s what we’re about. We want you to be happy and it’s great that for the most part we are getting it right.

What I want to say is that whether you’re happy or not so happy about your MySoti experience, please do drop us a line (ask@mysoti.com). You can also use Twitter and Facebook, but if you’re going to say something negative, please keep it constructive!

Clubs continuation

We were pleased to get a message from the Royal Society of Chemistry in England telling us how much they liked one of the designs on the site that they are using them as part of a competition they’re running at the Cambridge Science Festival:

You know what I love about MySoti (apart from you) ? Every day brings something new: another new design, another customer from a different place around the world who has discovered MySoti and another message of feedback or support from you lovely people!

It was only last week when I was talking about comedy (one of my personal favourites), but this week we have societies and clubs dominating. That’s the diversity that makes MySoti so special. You make it what it is!

Regular MySotians will already know about our affection for all things comical. From our associations with the fantastic Stephen Fry to British comedians such as Adam and Joe and TV Shows like “The IT Crowd”.

It’s great that we’re still the first choice for comedy design goodness as we now have renowned British comedy double act Collings and Herrin in the mix. Check out their hilarious podcasts!

I was about to write something about the fact that Valentine’s Day designs are a bit thin on the ground at the moment, but our prayers have been answered, thanks to the romantically-titled “frogboxes”. Thank you!

Showtime!

Hey!

We’re in the movie spirit at the moment. With the Golden Globes just gone and the Oscars and BAFTAs not far away, there’s been plenty of movie-related discussion here at MySoti HQ. In fact, between us we think we’ve seen just about every movie out within the last two months! We love ‘em!

Following on from that, we thought we’d take a look at what movie-inspired designs are on the site. It’s interesting that you guys and girls seem to favour more classic ones than anything within the last five or ten years. What gives ?

If you’re really inspired, show us what you’re made of, but as always watch the copyright! The studios are very tough on that, so be careful!

Bigger and better!

It looks like even more people are discovering MySoti, and that’s great. Imagine my surprise when even after our recent server upgrade, our traffic increased so much following the release of another design that even they started to creak a bit!

For those of you who experienced a slightly slower MySoti experience than normal, we’re really sorry… but the good news is that we’ve increased our capacity even more to deal with it all! Another MySoti improvement!

Sure, it’s cold and sure the last of the holiday festivities are now little more than a distant hazy memory, but here at MySoti HQ, we’ve still got lots to be cheerful about!

News from Davy Jones' Locker

Ahoy Everyone!

We’re going all nautical this week to acknowledge another MySoti best seller. Regular visitors may have noticed that the “Creatures of Deck No. 9” shirt from darth_1977 has been Most Wanted for some time, but only recently trumped by the rather fantastic “Utility Belt iPod” by JamesLillis.

This one has been a tremendously successful design, so I wanted to give a suitably aquatic salute to darth_1977, just as it has concluded it’s voyage on the Most Wanted seas… at least for now! It’s always nice to see designs that resonate so well with the MySoti community, so I thought it’s only fair to acknowledge the effort as an inspiration to other designers.

Having seen the fantastic “The Dark Knight Rises”, I’m particularly pleased to see the current Most Wanted design. Here’s hoping it has an equally long reign!

New Year, New Features

We’re really excited about 2013, and we hope you are too! Since the end of 2012, we’ve already started work on some new features that you’ll love. You’ll have to wait and see what they are, because I’m not telling!

We’re still continuing to find ways of adding to and improving MySoti and it’s all because of the valuable feedback we get from you. So don’t stop!

More improvements on the way!

Hey!

While there’s still plenty of groans and patting of suitably full stomachs here at MySoti HQ, be assured that we’re still looking after you over the holiday period. You may have noticed a few small improvements we’ve made to the speed of the site, particularly since we moved to our shiny new server, but also some extra bits to help it all along.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out some others based on all the valuable feedback we get from designers and customers alike. Keep it coming in. We have a big list of stuff we’re working on, so we can’t promise that we can bring all the new and improved features you’d like straight away, but your views are always important to us.

Once again don’t forget our hysterically generous 20% promotion. Get a discount on all our products until the end of the year by quoting “holidays2012” at the checkout.

As you’ve probably guessed, with Christmas practically upon us, it’s now a bit late to order for those last minute pressies, but nothing covers the guilt better than a New Year gift instead ;)
