Hey everyone!

The thing I love about MySoti is that every day brings a new set of inspiring, fun, witty, topical and just downright creative designs… and it’s all because of you!

We have such a variety of complexities of designs on here and it’s great to see such genius at work with simple designs like this week’s Most Wanted and the passion you all show in your comments. Keep ‘em coming!

Oh, and I haven’t talked about any of our super secret stuff for a few weeks now. That’s because it’s still secret :) We are progressing with two very exciting new developments (yes, that’s an extra one as well) and I think we’re just a few weeks away from announcing the first. Until then, I ain’t tellin’ :D

We're (still) Olympics crazy

Hey everyone!

Did I mention we were giving away *prizes* for the best Olympics-inspired designs ? Well, we are! I’m seeing a lot of great designs going in there, but I guess Olympics aren’t yet floating your boats!

We’ll have to think of something that /does/ inspire you… apart from Doctor Who… and Star Wars! Why don’t you give me a few ideas on our Facebook page ? This is meant to be a two way communication ya know!

Chariots of fire

Hey everyone!

We’re going a bit Olympic crazy here at MySoti HQ. Sure, it’s still a few months away, but try telling that to the guys running up and down the stairs holding rolled up newspapers!

There’s a healthy debate about who’s interested, who’s not interested and who is just plain indifferent… but we’re not seeing any designs coming in to provide witty comment for one side or the other, so get designing!

To give you a little incentive to put pen to tablet, how about we offer the designer who gets the most wanted design before May 16th a nice shiny prize to reward their creative prowess ?

If you’re putting some designs together with an Olympian theme, don’t forget to respect the copyrights and trademarks of the official 2012 organisation. I’m sure you’d appreciate that same respect yourselves, so play nice :)

Pinteresting

Hey everyone!

We’ve had a few people ask about how we feel about Pinterest recently. I thought I’d make this week’s topic about where we stand on all that stuff.

Social media is the cornerstone of MySoti. It’s what designers use to bring customers to their designs and in turn, to us. We all need it. We aim to keep an eye on any such trends so that we can give our designers the tools to bring their designs to the widest possible audience.

Pinterest can be seen as just such a tool. On the flip side, it’s also potentially a way of relinquishing control over where the images are used. The copyright and integrity of designers’ images is of exceptionally high importance to us. Without that respect from our side, MySoti wouldn’t exist. Period.

So, where do we stand on Pinterest ? At the moment, we do not currently allow pages to be pinned for the above reasons. However, that isn’t completely final. We are looking at ways of giving designers the choice to opt in if it’s important to them, but for now it seems that this is the fairest way round. It’s just another way in which we aim to look after you all!

Spring is here... almost!

Hey everyone.

There’s a spring in the step of everyone around MySoti HQ right now. It must be the weather! We’ve shuffled the posters that normally cover up the dreary dampness outside the window so those lovely rays of sunshine can peep through once more!

Another ray of sunshine for me at least is you guys and gals. Another interesting choice for this week’s Most Wanted. Some of you are just plain strange, but that’s why I love you all! It all adds in to the mix that makes MySoti great! So, keep them coming! Make them strange, topical… and controversial, even. You alone decide what earns the hallowed title of Most Wanted!

Don't mention shipping

You know that shipping times have been something I have been working on driving down since Steve passed the hot seat over to me.

Since that time, we’re now able to turn orders of t-shirts, posters and canvases in a matter of days. That’s already a big step forward.

On shipping, we’re negotiating the best deals we can to get you the most cost-effective carriage prices. That’s got to be a good thing. Some of you have asked us about providing another level of shipping for those of you who want your stuff now now now! Well, we have good news for you too. Within the next few weeks, we’ll be launching our premium shipping service which will allow you to get your products faster.

That’s not all that’s in store for you. Oh no. I’m not telling just yet. You’ll just have to keep on reading until I’m ready :)

Dr Who is back

Hey!

What is it with you guys and Dr Who ? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan too! It’s just that I’m amazed that even when the show is off the air, we still see Dr Who inspired stuff dominating Most Wanted. I love it, and all the non-Dr Who stuff this week is fantastic too.

It just shows how much our time travelling friend inspires so many of you. I’m pleased to provide a medium for that inspiration!

Let's talk about cash

Hey everyone!

This week, I want to talk about money. Cash. Wonga. The green stuff.

As a designer, each month your designs earn you $$$ (or £££ or €€€ depending where you are). We do all the hard work in getting those products out to eager customers around the world (did I mention shipping times are grrreat ?), and the designs you’ve toiled over get to millions of people everywhere. What could be easier ? Our most recent top earner, ladyfawn has netted Bambi-beating sums of over $750 already!

As a customer, you get access to the freshest, most cutting edge designs the finest of the Internet have to bring, and you can get that warm, squishy feeling for supporting the artists who brought them to you. Kinda completes the circle, doesn’t it ?

Hey!

I think I’m getting the hang of this! If I’ve got it right, you should be reading this message just a couple of days or so after it goes on the blog.

So, what have we got to talk about this week ? Yeah, I’m going to talk about shipping again. We’ve had our best delivery times for the past year, so don’t be shy, fill up that basket! We’re still trying to improve it so that it’s perfect in the future, but it’s still getting better. In particular, posters and canvases are now going to be shipped faster and more reliably than ever before. Another win!

A big “hello” to the other countries around the world who have seen the MySoti message reach their shores. This is what makes it all so special! But then, for you designers, that’s more customers. More $$$. We like.

Apologising for the apology that referred to the apology from last time

Hey everyone!

Just when I thought I’d finished apologising, I’m apologising again. That last newsletter… which may now be this newsletter by the time you see it was the same as last week’s. I screwed up. Again. Sorry!

We’re continuing to make good progress on shipping and we’re also working hard on sorting out customer services. We are now putting more processes in place to resolve issues for you more rapidly, and hopefully giving less reason to have issues. Hang in there, we’re improving things day by day.

That aside, I’ve been so touched by the support and enthusiasm have shown for everything about MySoti. Steve wasn’t wrong about you! Thank you.

I’m also really pleased to have received suggestions from you on additional products and features you’d like to see. Keep them coming. There are some that we are already working on, and some that honestly didn’t occur to us, so they’re just great to see. Our priority is to smooth out the shopping experience in the first instance, but as I’ve already teased you before, we do have some new developments up our sleeves. We’re going to tease you for a little while longer, but we’re soooo close!

Did I push the wrong button ?

If you’ve read the blog from last week, you’d have seen that I still haven’t got this newsletter thing right. I thought I’d had it all figured out. I didn’t because you saw exactly the same message as the previous week! Damn!

So here’s hoping I’ve got it right this time, so if you’re reading this in your mail program, it worked!

One thing we seem to be getting closer to getting right are the deliveries. Not only are we squashing those lead times week on week, but we’ve also been delivering lots of cash to our most excellent designers. Yay you guys!

Happy New Year!

So first an apology: the last couple of newsletters kept coming up with different designs from the proper Most Wanted ones. My bad. I’m still trying to figure out which button to push! Fingers crossed that it’s going to work this time!

I guess you’ve already heard about my New Year resolutions. While it’ll take a little time, these are some resolutions I won’t be breaking! We’re making reasonable progress and we’re working at compressing those lead times even more. It’s going to be a more streamlined 2012 for all concerned.

Designers, you lucky guys and gals should already be feeling a bit richer and more payments are on the way, so there’s never been a better time to hit those January sales.

We’ve also been progressing the exciting but still super secret discussions on future developments. I still can’t say what it is yet, but I know you’ll love it!

Times Tumbling

I don’t know about you, but I’ve eaten waaay too much during the holidays!

While many others have ground to a halt over the holiday period, our little elves haven’t stopped! Our shipping times are gradually getting shorter, and we’re working hard to keep them that way!

Hello from the New Broom!

Hey there everyone.

I’m so pleased to be writing this first blog entry from the MySoti hot seat and help Steve keep the MySoti dream alive. He said you guys are special, and he’s totally right! Just look at the new cool stuff available this week alone.

So I know there are a few things Steve wanted to sort out to give both designers and customers a smoother ride. It isn’t going to happen overnight, but we’re really working hard to accelerate the good work that Steve started. I say “we” because I have some friends helping spread the load. I guess I should give you my manifesto. Here goes:

1. Shipping times will be drastically reduced. This is our top priority, so expect to see those lead times shrinking to e-commerce friendly turnaround times very soon. I’ll make an “official” announcement once we’ve nailed it.

2. Customer service will be more rapid, and you’ll have less reason to need it!

3. More products! I’ve already started the conversations to move this on. I can’t tell you what we’ve got in store for you just yet, but I know you’ll just love it! Stay tuned.

4. More opportunities to make money! It’s all super secret at the moment, but we are in conversations to get your products in front of more people.

Many of you may also have noticed that the calculations on commission payments look as if they have changed recently. This isn’t what’s happening. Our technical drones have been working on fixing some problems that have been discovered during the hand over. None of you will lose any money, and your commission payments will be the same as before. I promise.

Both Steve and I really appreciate you guys and gals hanging in there and supporting us. You’ll soon see that your loyalty is well placed!

Big changes are a' coming

So, as I alluded to last week - and on my twitter-feed (@HuntyHunt) there have been some movements within MySoti and finally I am able to talk about them.

In a nutshell, because of other time commitments and my increasingly strange personal life I am standing down from my day-to-day duties and handing over to my good friend and the new chief of MySoti, Aaron.

Aaron has been aware of MySoti for many years and has been involved in a small way with the site since its very beginning. He’s bravely stepped up to the plate and his first task has been to takeover from me and work hard on securing a much improved delivery network for the new year. From what I have seen he’s very, very close at nailing this logistics nightmare for good, bringing in some very exciting new products and a better experience all round. It’s a very exciting time. Expect a post from him within the next week with more details.

The bean counters are making a few changes to the structure of commission payments over the coming months which will result in a slight delay in the short term, but you will get your money in full very soon.

And so, that’s it. The end of an era for me.

Those of you who bother to read these will know that I am very proud of the community and the little marketplace that I’ve built up pretty much on my own over these past few years… I only hope that you continue to support those who have taken over the site now, and that they show you as much care and love in return.

Stuff, nonsense and things...

As always there’s a load of cool, new stuff on MySoti. But you all new that.

Most of you are here reading this news because of the nonsense happening with our delivery times again. Well, we ARE shipping and we ARE getting your orders out as quickly as humanly (and in some cases robotically/computationally) possible. Obviously with the holiday’s fast approaching we’ll be working around the clock to make sure that things get quicker too.

Which brings me onto my next set of things to talk about. Changes are happening here internally within MySoti and these are things that will only help MySoti regain it’s rightful place up and online within the upper echelons of cool places on the Interpipes.

More about that soon. For now - look at our cool stuff!
